Robot & Electric Vehicle Service Technician

Electric Movement is a contract engineering and electric vehicle sales and service company. We are deeply involved in the development of two significant robotics and electric vehicle projects. There are a ton of different things going on here every day. You definitely won’t already know how to do everything that we will need you to do. The position is full-time (Mountain View) and we are hoping for someone who would like to work with us for many years.

About the Job

You will be a key contributor on our Service Team. The team is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and robots both in our R&D facility as well as in the field. You will be responsible for learning all the ins-and-outs of the various pieces of equipment we service and learning to operate independently and do good work. At times you will collaborate with teammates on the Service Team or Engineering Teams, and other times you will work on your own. Our ideal candidate is excited by the possibility of working in a challenging environment that changes every day. If you’ve ever worked a typical service job or worked in an auto shop, this is the polar opposite of that. You will be challenged to learn new skills every day in order to be successful on this team.

Compensation based upon experience, existing skills, and motivation.

Job functions include:

  • Working on vehicles in the field at customer locations (service truck provided)
  • Diagnostics and repair of all electrical and mechanical areas of the vehicles
  • Troubleshooting
  • Routine maintenance and safety inspections
  • Vehicle cleaning
  • New vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspections and setup
  • Customer communication
  • Paperwork
  • Submitting warranty claims online
  • Time Tracking
  • Billing
  • Ordering parts
  • Help the engineering team work on prototypes (this is after service work is done)


Required skills:

  • Ability to "just figure it out and get it done" with a positive attitude
  • Must have at least a basic understanding of electricity (voltage, current, etc)
  • Basic wiring techniques
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Knows when to ask for help, but also knows when to just figure it out independently
  • Good judgement
  • Good/Great communication skills
  • Good/Great listening skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Ability to be responsible for completing excellent work that is clean and presentable
  • An ownership mentality
  • Solid computer skills
  • Experience working in the field of vehicle repair, stereo installation, heavy equipment repair, forklift repair or other similar area
  • Able to lift and maneuver batteries weighing 70 lbs
  • Current driver's license and good driving record with not more than one point


“Nice to have” skills:

  • Personal interest in electric vehicles/robotics
  • Experience working on electric vehicles / golf carts
  • Experience working on Gem, Club Car, EZGO, Think, Taylor Dunn or Columbia brands
  • Experience in forklift repair
  • Experience with electric vehicle conversion
  • Personal passion for electric and alternative fuel vehicles
  • Experience working in a customer service field
  • Experience towing trailers
  • ASE Certifications


We are very willing to train a person lacking some skills but with a great attitude and a hunger to learn.
